Job Description
Responsibilities
- Campus & Community Outreach: Identify and contact local civic organizations, business leaders, and campus clubs to expand event attendance and foster strong town-gown relationships.
- Marketing & Promotion: Design engaging digital and print promotional materials, manage social media campaigns, and draft press releases or campus-wide newsletter announcements to boost visibility for each 1-hour session.
- Scheduling & Coordination: Assist in coordinating calendars, securing event spaces, managing RSVPs, and scheduling pre-event planning meetings with guest speakers and panel members.
- Event Logistics: Provide on-site support during the roundtable event, including setting up signage, greeting attendees, managing sign-in sheets, and assisting with technical or media setups.
- Keynote Speaker Coordination: Serve as main point of contact for the keynote speaker, providing timely updates regarding event timelines, expectations, and logistics. Collect the speaker’s professional biography, headshot, and presentation abstract to use in marketing materials and event introductions. Draft and deliver a detailed day-of itinerary to the speaker, including parking instructions, arrival times, and the strict 1-hour event schedule. Coordinate tech checks before the event to test presentation slides, audio equipment, and video setups. Send a formal thank-you letter on behalf of the university and facilitate any post-event feedback or honorarium processing.
Requirements
- Must be a SUNY Cortland Student
Preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn) and design tools like Canva.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- A professional demeanor suitable for representing SUNY Cortland to external community partners.
- All majors are welcome to apply, with preference given to Communication Studies, Public Policy and Administration, Business and Public Relations.
