Job Description

Responsibilities

Marketing and communications Work alongside the Marketing and Fundraising Manager and colleagues across the organisation to deliver the marketing strategy and agreed marketing and communications priorities. Plan and coordinate marketing and communications activity, maintaining content schedules and managing competing priorities to ensure activity is delivered effectively and to agreed deadlines. Create and deliver engaging content and communications for organisational activity, projects, campaigns and events. Identify key target audiences and use multiple communication channels to communicate with carers of all ages, professionals, employers, commissioners, stakeholders and the wider public. Support internal and external communications and knowledge-sharing across projects and teams, helping colleagues to communicate effectively with their key audiences. Create, edit and proofread marketing and communications content for a range of digital and print channels, including websites, e-newsletters, social media and printed materials, supporting campaigns, projects, awareness-raising activities and events. Design and produce a range of printed marketing materials, including leaflets, posters, flyers, booklets and other promotional materials. Ensure communications and marketing activity is delivered in accordance with Newcastle Carers' brand guidelines, using consistent brand assets and a clear and consistent tone of voice across all channels. Identify opportunities to raise the profile of Newcastle Carers and its work through media channels, including writing press releases to promote work, activities and achievements. Digital marketing Use digital platforms including WordPress, email marketing tools, CRM systems and social media channels to deliver marketing and communications activity. Develop and update website content using WordPress, creating and updating pages, news and other content and apply basic SEO best practice. Support paid digital advertising campaigns (e.g. Meta, LinkedIn or Google Ads). Monitor and analyse social media and website insights to identify the best performing content and use these insights to inform future content and activity. Follow digital accessibility best practice, including the appropriate use of image ALT text. Work with colleagues to source and manage inclusive and appropriate images and other visual content for use in marketing communications. Ensure images and visual assets are stored and labelled appropriately and that the appropriate permissions have been obtained for publicly used images. Storytelling and impact Identify and develop stories with colleagues, carers and beneficiaries, creating engaging written, visual, and short-form video content that amplifies the voices and experiences of carers, bringing these stories to life while respecting personal narratives. Capture engaging photographs and visual content of Newcastle Carers' activities, events, services and people for use across marketing and communications channels. Create, record and edit engaging short-form video content, including Reels and short videos, for use across Newcastle Carers’ digital channels. Project work and campaigns Provide marketing and communications support for projects and initiatives that Newcastle Carers is involved in across the North East, working with colleagues and partners to promote activity and engage relevant audiences. Create and publish engaging marketing content to support awareness-raising campaigns and events, including Carers Week, Young Carers Action Day, Carers Rights Day and Carer Friendly Awards. Fundraising marketing Work alongside the Marketing and Fundraising Manager and colleagues to promote Newcastle Carers' fundraising activities, campaigns and events. Create and promote fundraising campaigns, events and other income-generation opportunities across appropriate digital, print and social media channels. Write and create compelling fundraising stories and impact-led content that demonstrate how donations and fundraising support carers. Other duties include to: a) Demonstrating the values and behaviours of Newcastle Carers in all interactions and working within our policies and procedures. b) Contribute positively to progress reviews, annual development reviews and continued professional development. c) Undertake any other reasonable requests for work as directed by your line manager, including stepping in for colleagues in your team who may be off due to annual leave or sickness absence.

Requirements

Experience of working in a marketing and/or communications role, creating and delivering content across a range of channels
Strong organisational skills with experience of planning and managing multiple pieces of work to meet deadlines
Excellent written and proofreading skills, with strong spelling, grammar and attention to detail
Experience of design software such as Canva and/or Adobe Creative Cloud
Experience of using social media, content scheduling and email marketing platforms to create and deliver content to different audiences
Experience of updating and maintaining websites using a content management system (preferably WordPress)
Experience of creating and editing engaging visual content, including photography and short-form video
Experience of supporting marketing and communications tailored to varied audiences, including campaigns, events and fundraising
Confident using IT systems and quick to learn new software, with experience in Microsoft 365, including Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Experience of writing press releases and/or working with the media (Desirable)

Preferred

Desirable: Basic understanding of marketing analytics and reporting
Desirable: Knowledge of SEO and website best practice
Desirable: Experience of supporting paid digital advertising campaigns, such as Meta, LinkedIn or Google Ads
