Job Summary

Own and shape the charity’s PR and social media strategy while leading media relations, storytelling, and integrated campaigns to grow profile, protect reputation, and inspire support across NHS partnerships and fundraising initiatives.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver the charity’s PR and social media strategy, aligned to wider organisational objectives
  • Shape and grow the charity's profile through innovative PR, media, influencer and social media activity
  • Lead proactive media relations and social media activity to raise the charity’s profile and secure positive local, regional and national coverage
  • Identify, develop and share compelling patient, supporter and charity stories across multiple channels, that build our reputation, engage audiences and inspire support
  • Protect and enhance the charity's reputation by leading media relations, issues management and communications planning
  • Act as the charity's media lead, managing enquiries, advising spokespeople and supporting senior leaders with media opportunities
  • Work collaboratively across the charity and with NHS colleagues to deliver integrated campaigns that support fundraising, engagement and brand objectives
  • Lead and develop the Marketing and PR Officer, fostering a culture of creativity, innovation and continuous improvement
  • Monitor and evaluate PR and social media performance, using insight and analytics to drive continuous improvement
  • Use insight, analytics and evaluation to measure performance and continually improve PR and social media activity

Requirements

  • Strategic, creative and collaborative communications professional with significant experience in PR, media relations and social media
  • Experience developing and delivering successful PR and social media strategies that deliver measurable results
  • Strong media relations and reputation management experience
  • Excellent copywriting, editing and storytelling skills across digital, social and traditional media
  • Experience planning and delivering integrated communications campaigns that engage audiences and support organisational objectives
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships at all levels
  • Leadership and people management experience with the ability to motivate and develop others
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
  • A strategic, audience-focused and innovative approach, with an understanding of emerging communications trends and digital best practice
  • A creative, proactive and audience-focused approach to communications
