Responsibilities

Lead the full development of BBC Select’s brand repositioning, driving the overall workstream, aligning cross-functional stakeholders, and ensuring successful delivery against project milestones and timelines
Truly partner with the research agency, providing direction throughout the engagement, shaping hypotheses and positioning territories, synthesizing learnings, and ensuring research translates into actionable brand strategy
Develop and refine brand positioning, proposition, and messaging throughout the research process, integrating insights from qualitative and quantitative research, competitive analysis, stakeholder interviews, audience data, and broader business inputs
Be the internal champion of the new BBC Select brand positioning, building organizational alignment, communicating the strategic rationale, and guiding implications across naming, identity, marketing, product experience, and portfolio architecture, including the relationship with the BBC Select brand
Create foundational brand strategy materials, including a BBC Select “Brand 101” onboarding toolkit and executive presentations, to educate teams and embed the new positioning across the organization
Partner closely with external agencies and internal creative teams to translate the positioning into comprehensive brand guidelines, including brand strategy, personality, tone of voice, messaging principles, and visual identity direction
Lead strategic partner selection, including development of RFPs and evaluation of agencies across brand design, creative development, production, and related disciplines
Author messaging framework for new BBC Select positioning through-funnel and over time so it’s clear how the brand communicates across channels and audiences
Collaborate extensively with Growth and Lifecycle Marketing teams. Post-launch, refine messaging framework across consumer journey as we learn what works IRL
Partner with the Editorial team, Growth Marketing and Creative teams to turn the positioning work into a go-to-market plan to re-launch BBC Select

Requirements

10+ years in Brand Strategy (with a bend towards Marketing) or Brand Marketing (but highly strategic), preferably in-house in TV, other DTC service or at a creative agency
Reliably pithy-yet-inspiring writing. Articulates strategic vision and creative ideas clearly and persuasively. Understands the freedom of a tight brief
An excellent presenter - comfort translating information to inspire both executive level and working teams
Strong experience with designing creative communications campaigns and ability to show campaign maps that you personally designed
Excellent rapport with Creative team and appreciation for the creative process
“Full-funnel” thinker, with an eye for brand cohesion, effectiveness, and ‘connecting the dots.’
Thrives in change: ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects, priorities, and personalities at once
Highly organized: ability to own and clearly manage a high-visibility workstream in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to manage up and sideways with clear progress and goals
Hungry & Open-minded: loves to learn something new from people with different perspectives. Can pick up quickly by observing
