Job Summary

Own the brand’s visual identity and multi-channel content for Downtown San Leandro, driving graphic design, website updates, and social media coordination across events, promotions, and public programs.

Job Description

Responsibilities

Graphic Design - Produces polished, on-brand visual materials across print and digital formats in support of district events (twelve per year) and downtown programming.
Graphic Design - Design and format paid advertisements for print and digital, ensuring correct specifications and brand consistency across all outlets.
Graphic Design - Create platform-specific graphics for Instagram and Facebook, maintaining visual consistency with Downtown San Leandro’s brand identity.
Graphic Design - Design posters, postcards, signs, banners, and other printed materials from concept through print-ready file preparation.
Graphic Design - Build and maintain reusable templates in Canva for staff use.
Website Updates - Maintains accurate and timely content on the Downtown San Leandro website.
Website Updates - Update pages with current press releases, media coverage, and assets.
Website Updates - Post and update events listings, calendar listings, and public program details.
Website Updates - Refresh homepage content and featured imagery to reflect current programming priorities.
Website Updates - Monitor and fix broken links, outdated pages, or content requiring revision.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Communications, Graphic Design, or related field.
Professional experience: two to four years of experience in marketing-related work, within a creative context. Graphic design and digital marketing experience are essential.
Must be detail-oriented and deadline-driven with strong time and project management skills.
Ability to follow best practices and create consistent content aligned with Downtown San Leandro’s mission, optimizing campaigns across various channels, including social media, email updates, and traditional print media.
Enthusiastic, dependable, eager to learn and grow. Must have a good attitude and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively as part of a small, dynamic team.
Flexible schedule to attend special events.
Knowledge/skills/abilities: Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Experience working with Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Canva, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Acrobat, Google Suite, MailChimp, SEO, and WordPress website updating preferred. Goal-oriented. Strong writing abilities.
Photography, running social media ads; experience working in a nonprofit preferred.
