Job Description

Responsibilities

Execute the newsletter program as a high-performing media channel, optimizing how sponsored placements and commissionable offers are delivered to drive strong, defensible performance for our partners while protecting the member experience. Serve as the email and newsletter expert to Ad Sales and the Merchant team, advising on inventory, placement, and campaign best practices and bringing data-backed recommendations that improve monetization to the teams responsible for what is sold and placed. Report program and placement performance credibly to partners and leadership, using defensible, trustworthy metrics. Own the execution and performance of every campaign, translating results into best-practice guidance and recommendations that help Ad Sales, Merchant, and Marketing teams improve outcomes over time. Propose and, once approved, execute the global (22-market) newsletter strategy and roadmap, balancing send volume and frequency with engagement and long-term list health. Translate the strategy into a market-by-market campaign and inventory calendar used cross-functionally by Ad Sales, the Merchant team, and Marketing. Oversee a full portfolio of concurrent campaigns—from planning through send and post-send analysis. Build, QA, schedule, and deploy newsletter and email campaigns in our ESP, personally and through your team. Manage dynamic, catalog-driven offer placement and per-segment/per-client targeting and suppression at scale. Develop mobile-first templates flexible enough to A/B test any element, refreshed quarterly on performance, best practices, and trends; run an ongoing testing program across offers, segmentation, timing, and creative. Own inbox placement, sender reputation, and deliverability across multiple sending domains and markets—IP/domain warm-up, authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), list hygiene, audience data quality, and feedback loops—monitored with tools such as Validity/Everest, Google Postmaster Tools, and Microsoft SNDS. Serve as the internal expert on deliverability best practices and mailbox-provider requirements. Balance commercial goals with a great member experience, delivering the right offer to the right member to drive discovery, clicks, and purchase activity. Own audience segmentation and personalization by market, client, and member behavior, matching messaging and placements to the right audiences with a focus on engagement and deliverability, while ensuring client settings are always respected. Design and run lifecycle and behavior-based journeys—activation, welcome, re-engagement, and win-back—to grow engagement and long-term value while reducing churn. Own a smaller but strategically important set of product marketing and go-to-market sends that grow adoption of BenefitHub’s own products and verticals (e.g., home and auto insurance, the browser extension), in partnership with Marketing stakeholders. Define and track KPIs across performance, engagement, deliverability, and lifecycle—including weekly reporting on open rate, CTR, CTOR, and sender reputation—and lead regular performance updates to marketing leadership, the executive team, and the broader company on results, trends, and priorities, adjusting based on data. Ensure advertiser- and partner-facing metrics are accurate and defensible, with an awareness of non-human/invalid traffic (bots, scanners, prefetch) and its impact on reported performance, partnering with analytics to mitigate it. Lead, coach, and develop a growing team of email marketers and email marketing specialists responsible for executing our newsletter, email marketing, and journey programs. Oversee, own, and continuously improve the operating framework for intake, QA, approvals, and reporting for efficiency and clear cross-departmental communication. Manage vendor relationships (ESP, CDP, and deliverability tools) and act as a key stakeholder in ESP strategy, capabilities, and any platform evaluation or migration. Ensure compliance with email and privacy regulations across our markets (e.g., CAN-SPAM, CASL, GDPR), and own consent, subscription, and preference management.

Requirements

9+ years of hands-on email, CRM, or lifecycle marketing in a high-volume program, including monetizing a newsletter or email audience through sponsored placements and/or commissionable/affiliate revenue.
Deep, hands-on expertise in email deliverability, compliance, and reputation management (IP/domain warmup, SPF/DKIM/DMARC, list hygiene, mailbox-provider relations).
Hands-on mastery of a major enterprise ESP and CDP / marketing-automation stack—our current stack includes Iterable and Lytics—across segmentation, dynamic content, automation, lifecycle journeys, behavioral targeting, and reporting.
Proven success managing and developing a high-performing team.
Strong command of segmentation, personalization, automation workflows, triggered campaigns, and A/B testing methodologies.
Advanced knowledge of marketing analytics, attribution modeling, and performance measurement, building KPIs and dashboards and translating performance data into insights for partners and executives—with the judgment to distinguish genuine engagement from invalid traffic.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred

Background at an ecommerce, marketplace, perks/benefits, affiliate, deals, or media/ad-monetization company (e.g., PerkSpot, EBG / Perks at Work, LifeMart, Rakuten, Groupon, RetailMeNot, or similar).
Understanding of the HR, benefits, and employee-engagement landscape.
Experience with multi-tenant programs, product-marketing/GTM email, global multi-market programs, and evaluating or migrating ESPs.
