Own media relations and PR coordination for the Hawaii regional portfolio, shaping strategy, crafting messaging, coordinating interviews and on-property media visits, and tracking performance across earned channels.

Job Description

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain relationships with media
Draft and distribute press releases, media alerts, pitches, and byline articles
Assist with fielding and managing inbound media inquiries; support in coordinating and staffing interviews, site visits, and press stays
Help track media coverage and compile regular reporting on placements, reach, and sentiment
Assist in identifying, vetting, coordinating, and managing on-property media visits, press tours, and FAM trips to secure earned media coverage and positive exposure; track deliverables and performance
Assist in the development of PR strategies and campaigns that align with overall marketing and business goals and seasonal priorities (openings, renovations, culinary launches, events, luau/entertainment programming)
Draft key messaging and talking points for spokespeople
Partner with Marketing on integrated campaigns spanning earned, owned, and paid channels
Help maintain a repository of media-facing brand assets, fact sheets, executive bios, and press kits
Assist in ensuring consistent brand voice and messaging across all external communications

Requirements

Minimum of 1 to 2 years’ experience in the Marketing/Communications industry (hospitality industry essential)
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office; familiarity with Canva, Cision, Meltwater, and Muckrack is a plus
Strong writing and proofreading skills, with attention to detail and brand voice
Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable coordinating with internal teams, media, and vendors
Basic understanding of the media landscape and social/digital content trends
Strong organizational and time-management skills; able to track multiple projects and deadlines
Ability to work efficiently and calmly in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Eagerness to learn PR strategy and grow within the marketing and communications field
Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in written and verbal format, and build and maintain relationships
Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times
