Job Description

Responsibilities

  • The Media and Communications Officer will contribute to the delivery of a strong media profile through creative and impactful PR campaigns that develop Kew Wakehurst’s reputation as a wild botanic garden and living laboratory.
  • They will support storytelling and content gathering by identifying and writing stories that support our communications goals.
  • The postholder will also contribute to the efficient operation of the Wakehurst press office function.
  • To support the delivery of impactful PR campaigns that secure high-profile coverage across broadcast, print and digital platforms.

Requirements

  • experience working in a busy press office alongside exceptional copywriting, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Educated to a degree level with a proven background in a similar role.
  • collaborative team player and articulate communicator with a meticulous eye for detail.
  • Capable of producing accurate, high-quality work at pace, you will be confident creating content across multiple digital channels and engaging a wide range of audiences.
  • This role will involve a modest amount (approx 30-50h per annum) of evening and weekend work, including for press events, film/photography shoots, on-call media duties during peak times and communications during adverse weather.
  • Part-time hours per week 22
