Job Description

Responsibilities

  • The Digital Communications Manager will provide strategic leadership on digital communications, identifying opportunities to grow and develop our online presence and working creatively to engage key audiences.
  • Meaning that you’ll have the opportunity to shape how people experience and understand the Cairngorms National Park online, bringing fresh ideas and confidence to a role with real visibility and purpose.
  • As the postholder you will help position the organisation – and the wider Cairngorms National Park – as a leader in tackling the nature and climate crisis, as well as a champion for local communities and for a range of key stakeholders.
  • Giving you the chance to use your expertise to support work that matters, helping tell powerful stories in a way that inspires action and pride.
  • In this role you will take a strategic and collaborative approach to managing the suite of National Park and Park Authority digital channels, helping increase understanding of – and support for – our work.
  • Channels and content should be tailored for specific audiences across the National Park (visitors, land managers, local businesses, residents etc) and maintained to the highest standard.
  • Meaning that you’ll be trusted to lead a varied and high-impact digital portfolio, making sure different audiences can easily connect with the Park Authority’s work in ways that feel relevant, accessible and engaging.
  • Reporting to the Head of Communications and Engagement, you will line manage staff looking after social media, the website and Cairngorms 2030 communications.
  • Providing you the opportunity to step into a supportive leadership role where you can guide and develop talented colleagues, while working closely with senior communications leads to deliver shared priorities.
  • You will play a key role in providing training and support for individuals across the organisation in the effective use of digital communications channels.

Requirements

  • Experience of delivering digital marketing / public relations campaigns to engage with key audiences, applying relevant market research and strategic communications frameworks.
  • Sound understanding of social media channels, digital first approaches and awareness / experience of emerging new media technologies.
  • Experience managing and developing websites, working closely with a third-party website developer and managing associated budgets.
  • Excellent project management skills, able to manage demanding workloads and delegate where appropriate.
  • Strong writing, proofreading and copyediting skills and attention to detail, and experience in content creations including video editing.
  • IT literate, including experience of using social media management tools (eg Sprout) and knowledge of open-source content management systems (eg Craft or Wordpress).
  • Excellent communication skills, both presentation and written, with the ability to persuade others to support Park Authority campaigns.
  • Experience of line managing team members and supporting their personal and professional development.
  • Good proactive networker outside and inside the organisation, and ability to interact confidently with different audiences and work in partnership.
  • Sound judgement, initiative, vision and drive to develop and guide the role and the work of the team.
