African Ancestry Link (AAL) is reconnecting Africans with their roots and empowering them with vital knowledge about their heritage, health, and healing through DNA.Our nonprofit is founded on the belief that every African, no matter where they live, deserves the opportunity to know where they come from and access critical genetic health insights. The legacy of the transatlantic slave trade separated millions of African families, leaving deep gaps in ancestry, identity, and connection. While many in the African diaspora have used DNA testing to trace their roots, Africans on the continent remain primarily disconnected from this powerful tool. At AAL, we are changing that.Africa has the most significant diversity in human genomes and harbours some of the most ancient human genome sequences. However, African populations have been largely understudied. This lack of representation in genetic research not only creates gaps in ancestry tracing but also leads to the misdiagnosis or oversight of hereditary diseases in African communities. Tragically, many Africans are dying from hereditary conditions that could be prevented or better managed simply because they are unaware of the genetic risks they carry.Through partnerships with leading DNA companies, we’re making DNA testing accessible in Africa and throughout the diaspora, closing the gap between the continent and its global descendants. Our work bridges families divided by history, empowers individuals with essential genetic health knowledge, and strengthens identity through heritage discovery.By blending science, culture, and technology, we’re not just testing DNA. We are helping individuals restore identity, rebuild family connections, understand their genetic health, and fortify bonds across continents.AAL is more than a nonprofit. It’s a global movement to unite people, preserve legacies, shape health, and empower Africans everywhere — one DNA test at a time.
