The Communications & PR Manager will own internal and external communications for the Edinburgh University Students’ Association, leading media relations and proactive PR campaigns while coordinating fast-paced, multi-project internal messaging and stakeholder engagement across representation, campaigns, and commercial activity.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • lead internal and external communications for Edinburgh University Students’ Association
  • staff communications, managing our intranet, newsletters and strategic internal messaging, while also delivering proactive PR campaigns, managing media relationships and supporting our student elected officers
  • Reporting to the Director of Marketing & Communications, the Communications & PR Manager has responsibility for all internal communications and external press & PR activity for the organisation’s varied activities
  • These span representation and activism, student activities, awareness and behavioural change campaigns, and commercial activity (e.g. events, retail and hospitality)
  • The post holder must build and maintain positive relationships with many stakeholders, including colleagues, student members, the media and partner organisations
  • The Communications & PR Manager is required to produce fast and accurate work, undertaken with a keen eye for detail, and work on multiple projects simultaneously

Requirements

Edinburgh University Students' Association is an autonomous, student-led campaigning, membership organisation providing services, representation and welfare support at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland.The Students' Association is the oldest students' union in the UK, originally founded as the Students' Representative Council (SRC) in 1884 by student Robert Fitzroy Bell. Shortly afterwards the SRC voted to fundraise and establish a union building, the Edinburgh University Union (EUU), now known as Teviot Row House. The Edinburgh University Women's Union was founded in 1906, becoming the Chambers Street Union in 1964. On 1 July 1973 the SRC, the EUU, and the Chambers Street Union merged to form EUSA.The Students' Association supports and oversees over 280 official student societies which provide a range of activities, events and opportunities across the student body, as well as offering a year round volunteering service for UoE students during their time in Edinburgh. The union also directly organises regular and seasonal events such as Welcome Week, club nights, pub quizzes, band nights, comedy, and the Graduation Ball.The Students' Association is a democratic membership organisation, a charitable body and a company limited by guarantee. The Students' Association also has complete ownership and control over a subsidiary company, EUSACO, incorporating any activity which is outside of the Students' Association's charitable remit, such as Edinburgh Festival and external catering activities.
