Job Summary

Own and drive the Department’s communications, marketing and events, shaping strategy, plan delivery, and multi-channel engagement across applicants, students, staff, alumni and partners. Lead and coordinate events, content creation, website and social channels, with line management of the Communications and Events Officer, while collaborating with the LSE Human Rights and British Journal of Sociology teams. Key workstreams include strategy execution, media and content production, event programming and digital presence.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Devise and deliver the Department’s communications, marketing and events strategy and milestones.
  • Lead on the creation, management and delivery of the Department’s communications, events and marketing plan (which includes LSE Human Rights and the British Journal of Sociology) to ensure activities engage LSE applicants, students, staff, alumni, external partners and the wider public.
  • Plan, manage and deliver the Department’s active and wide-ranging events programme.
  • Implement an effective multi-channel communications strategy in order to raise the profile and impact of research activities to diverse audiences and stakeholders.
  • Produce audio visual content and dynamic digital content using specialist software.
  • Lead on overseeing and improving the Departmental website and social media channels.
  • Line manage and oversee the work of the Department’s Communications and Events Officer.

Requirements

  • The successful postholder will have been educated to degree standard or higher or have equivalent work experience
  • You will have experience of managing and marketing a programme of events and communications strategies, preferably within the Higher Education sector
  • You will have experience of video and podcast production
  • You will have experience of sourcing and developing engaging, audience-appropriate content for a wide range of internal and external audiences
  • Excellent knowledge of a range of digital platforms and an understanding of their appropriate use as part of a wider communications and events strategy is essential
  • You should have the ability to develop productive working relations and work towards the wider team’s goals

Preferred

  • An understanding of Higher Education institutions, as well as academic research and publishing, as well as experience of planning and delivering targeted marketing campaigns, is desirable.
