Web Designer / Developer
Salary: £30,000–£40,000 depending on experience
Holidays: 25 days + 8 bank holidays, increasing with service
Location: Ashington, Northumberland
Working hours: Flexitime, hybrid working with 3 days in the office, and a 3pm finish on Fridays
Due to recent contract wins and continued growth, we’re looking for a Web Designer / Developer to join our digital team in Ashington, Northumberland. This is a great opportunity for a creative, motivated and hands-on individual who enjoys designing great digital experiences and wants to keep learning. You’ll need to be comfortable working both independently and as part of a wider team.
The Role
You will be actively involved in all stages of the design process, helping to turn client requirements into beautiful, functional and user-friendly digital designs. Ideally, although not essential, you’ll also be able to take those designs and develop them into working HTML prototypes before they are handed over to our developers to be built into our CMS platforms. The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in creating responsive, accessible and well-considered websites, supported by a strong design portfolio. Experience with front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript and React would also be beneficial.
Essential Skills
- At least 2 years’ experience designing and/or developing responsive websites
- Excellent understanding of UX and design methodologies
- Proficient in Figma, Adobe Illustrator, or another design/UX tool of your choice
- Ability to work independently
- A desire to learn and a genuine interest in improving user experiences
Desirable Skills
- Experience working in an agency environment
- Proficient in HTML, CSS and JavaScript
- Experience designing and/or developing to WCAG accessibility guidelines, including AA and AAA
- Experience with CMS platforms such as WordPress, Umbraco, Sitecore, Episerver, or similar
- Experience designing for email marketing platforms such as Campaign Monitor, Mailchimp, or similar
