Job Description
We are looking for a passionate and inspiring Vocational Trainer in Media, within the Creative Industries and Createch Faculty based at Banbury College.
Responsibilities
The Vocational Trainer role is incredibly varied, where each day can be very different to the next, blending a wide range of responsibilities, which include:
- Carryout Technician duties, organising the equipment and studio spaces for the Media Studies area, checking in/out kit for students, managing booking system and tracking resources, ordering equipment, ensuring safe working practices.
- Delivering student facing lessons, supervise practical workshops, support and deliver student Tutorials / 1-1s, provide feedback and guidance for students to make progress.
- Working collaboratively with faculty team to map out and plan the projects/Schemes of Learning and lesson plans. Support with standardisation of assessments.
This is a fixed-term, part-time role working 7.4 hours per week (FTE 0.20) based at our Banbury College. The contract ends in July 2027.
What do you need to be successful as a Vocational Trainer in Media with Activate Learning?
Successful candidates will have an appropriate professional qualification and/or a degree in Media Studies, Film Production, or relevant field. We would consider applications from unqualified teachers, with the ability to inspire our learners and a willingness to develop skills within teaching, who have a desire to become qualified. Working closely with students is at the heart of this role, so excellent pastoral skills, the ability to model positive behaviours, and confidently manage and uphold expectations are key. You will also take pride in maintaining and organising our creative spaces, workshops, and equipment stores to support a high-quality learning environment.
Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate their desire and ability to work alongside the wider team to continue to develop links with local businesses and the wider community to build and engage students in valuable work experience and project-based learning.
Media sits within the wider Creative Industries and Createch Faculty, which includes Art & Design, Performing & Production Arts, Games Development, IT and E-Sports. This role could be combined with other part-time opportunities within our Createch Faculty for candidates with the right blend of skills and experience.
