Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Craft compelling digital content for Guardian food content
  • Look for new, inspiring and impactful ways to promote our content; be aware of changing channel opportunities and social media trends
  • Support cooks, stylists and photographers in producing engaging video and other digital content tailored for our social platforms and website.
  • Take charge of the end-to-end process for planning, producing, filming, publishing and archiving of social media content
  • Work alongside the social, community, and audience teams to maximise resources and bring key stories to life through high-impact projects
  • Explore performance metrics – views, engagement, and content optimisation – to refine strategies and continually boost performance
  • Champion community voices by curating and incorporating user-generated content
  • Ensure every social post meets the highest editorial and technical standards
  • Share insights and data to enhance the organisation’s understanding of online audiences and emerging visual formats
  • Support marketing team when needed to ensure brand consistency and maximum impact

Requirements

  • Proven track record of producing distinctive social media content, preferably focused on food and culinary topics
  • Experience of using video editing software, ideally Adobe Premiere. Familiarity with After Effects is advantageous
  • Experience of shooting video in and outside of studio settings
  • Understanding of the Guardian’s visual aesthetic and editorial tone
  • Strong writing skills with a flair for distilling complex information into engaging, concise copy
  • Understanding of community engagement across social channels
  • Understanding of audience metrics on YouTube and social channels
  • Knowledge of search engine optimisation
  • Ideally, you will have a demonstrable ability to bring a diverse perspective to the role
