Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver the global medical communications strategy, ensuring scientific evidence is communicated consistently across all direct markets.
  • Create and execute multi-channel medical communication plans across congresses, publications, digital platforms, and trade media.
  • Lead the global Key Opinion Leader (KOL) strategy, building and maintaining strong relationships with leading ophthalmology experts.
  • Plan and manage Rayner's medical communications messaging at national and international congresses, including symposium strategy, scientific content, and event execution.
  • Lead the development of peer-reviewed publications, supporting manuscript preparation, data interpretation, and journal submissions. Supported by the wider clinical team.
  • Translate complex clinical data into clear, evidence-based communications tailored for internal and external audiences.
  • Collaborate with Clinical, Marketing, Regulatory, R&D, Sales, and regional teams to ensure aligned scientific messaging.
  • Expand Rayner's scientific profile through trade publications, industry engagement, and digital medical communications.
  • Manage medical communications projects, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality scientific content.
  • Monitor emerging clinical evidence and industry trends to strengthen Rayner's scientific leadership and support business objectives.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of experience in medical/scientific communications, ideally within the ophthalmic industry, including experience operating at a global or multi-region level
  • Proven people leadership and line management experience, with a track record of building, coaching, and developing high-performing teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and communicate ophthalmic clinical data, with medical communications experience and strong presentation skills.
  • Experience overseeing marketing communications activities (campaigns, brand, events, digital/social) in addition to medical/scientific communications, either directly or through close cross-functional partnership.
  • Excellent English writing and communication skills
  • Self-driven, accountable, and a collaborative team player, capable of working independently and cross-functionally.
  • Strong project management expertise and a highly organised, timeline-driven, objectives-focused approach.
  • Willingness to travel.

Preferred

  • Proficiency in additional languages.
  • Experience within cataract surgery and premium intraocular lenses (IOLs).
