Job Title: Fundraising and Communications Officer

Reports to: Director

Location: Hybrid - min. 1 day per week at Brixton Office (higher during probation period) – with potential travel in the UK 

Hours: Part Time (50%, 17.5 hours per week) - flexible - working days tbd with Director

Pay: £27,000-£32,000 gross per annum (Full-Time Equivalent)

Start: 1st November 2026

Duration: Fixed appointment till 31st October 2027 - with the possibility of extension depending on funding.

Purpose of the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and creative fundraiser to join CHIPS at an important stage in our development. The Fundraising & Communications Officer will help CHIPS strengthen and grow its income from individual supporters while ensuring that our communications effectively tell the story of our work and encourage people to engage with and support our mission.

The role will have a particular focus on individual giving, supporter engagement, and fundraising campaigns, alongside responsibility for delivering regular communications across our digital channels and printed media.

You will work closely with the Director and programme teams to turn the stories and impact of CHIPS' work into compelling fundraising and communications content. You will also support fundraising events, donor stewardship, grant applications and other income-generating activities.

This is a hands-on role within a small organisation. We are looking for someone who can take responsibility for their own areas of work, manage projects from beginning to end, and bring creativity and initiative while working collaboratively with colleagues across CHIPS.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

1.Individual Giving & Supporter Engagement

• Support the development of CHIPS' individual giving programme, including donor communications, thank-you processes, regular giving and supporter stewardship.
• Maintain accurate donor records and use CHIPS' CRM to track and develop supporter relationships.
• Develop engaging communications and opportunities that encourage existing supporters to deepen their involvement with CHIPS.
• Support fundraising campaigns, including the Big Give Christmas Challenge and other opportunities arising from our 60th anniversary year.
• Research and identify opportunities to grow CHIPS' individual donor base.
• Support the Director with the cultivation and stewardship of major donors, including preparing information, arranging meetings and following up with supporters.
• Monitor individual giving activity and help identify opportunities to improve donor engagement and income.

2.Grants, Events & Wider Fundraising

• Research prospective trusts, foundations and other funding opportunities that align with CHIPS' work.
• Support the Director and programme teams with the preparation and submission of grant applications, including gathering information, drafting content and coordinating deadlines.
• Support the Director and programme teams in the administration and preparation of funder reports, ensuring information is gathered from programme teams and submitted on time.
• Maintain accurate records of grant applications, deadlines, reporting requirements and funding outcomes.
• Support the planning and delivery of fundraising and supporter events, including communications, invitations, logistics and follow-up.
• Contribute to other fundraising activities and initiatives as opportunities arise, including corporate and community fundraising.

3.Communications & Engagement

• Produce and distribute regular newsletters using Mailchimp, working with the Director and programme teams to gather stories and updates.
• Maintain and update the CHIPS website using Squarespace, ensuring information is accurate, current and engaging.
• Support the planning and scheduling of social media content.
• Gather stories, photographs, updates and impact information from our projects in Brixton and Ghana and turn these into engaging content.
• Produce or coordinate basic promotional materials for fundraising campaigns, events and organisational activities.
• Support organisational publications such as impact reports and other supporter communications.
• Help ensure that CHIPS' communications consistently reflect our values, approach and impact.
