Job Summary

You will own a group of client accounts as their strategic lead, shaping ranking strategies and client positioning, while steering the delivery pod, reviewing work, and helping ELE grow through new services and processes.

  • Own client groups and set ranking ambition
  • Lead strategy, creative direction and quality control
  • Help grow the agency through process shaping and service decisions

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Own a group of clients as their strategic lead, working with them to set the ranking ambition, deciding which departments and individuals to push, advising on matter selection and positioning, and making the argument to partners who may well push back on it.
  • Lead the pod that delivers the work. Our project managers handle timelines, drafts and chasing. You lead on strategy, ranking advice and creative direction, review first drafts against our standards, and sign off what goes to the client.
  • Report to Helen Foord, our CEO, and line-manage a group of Consultants. Sit in the small senior group deciding how ELE grows: which services, which clients, how the agency works.
  • Shape processes as we build them; be comfortable with things not yet fully defined and help fix what should have worked.

Requirements

  • Submissions expertise, not just exposure
  • You have written and shaped submissions for Chambers UK and the Legal 500 (and others) across multiple cycles
  • In-house law firm experience
  • You have worked inside a firm, in marketing, BD or communications
  • Writing and editing brilliance. Plain English, sound structure, and the confidence to tell a partner their draft is a bit pants
  • The presence to be met as a peer in a call with senior lawyers, and to make a ranking argument they understand
  • Line management experience, or a clear reason to believe you would be good at it
  • Comfort with process. We use Teamwork, and it’s important that you’re happy to work within project management processes and procedures
  • Steadiness in submission season, when everything lands at once
  • Working knowledge of AI tools to support human, professional writing. We use them across the business, carefully and openly, and we are not nervous about them.

Preferred

  • Experience of directories beyond Chambers and the Legal 500.
  • Content work beyond submissions, particularly websites, reports and thought leadership.
  • Experience of working in a remote team.

Benefits

  • Holiday - 5.6 weeks including bank holidays, plus 6 wellbeing days and three volunteering days, pro rata, per year
  • Bonus - Tiered bonus structure based on salary if we exceed agency annual targets
  • Commission - 5% commission (first contract) for new clients you bring in
  • In-person - Two team meetings per year (expenses paid), plus optional coworking sessions
  • We are a naturally flexible employer. Generally, we are happy for you to work how and when you need to, as long as you have agreed it with your manager. Beyond our in-person meetings, everything is virtual: training, social activities, the lot.
