Job Summary

Own and deliver the EURO 2028 marketing and communications program for the GLA, coordinating cross‑partner plans, leading the London EURO 2028 Marketing and Communications Working Group, and ensuring robust planning, governance and budget management across multi‑stakeholder teams.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead the delivery of an integrated marketing and communications plan for the GLA’s UEFA EURO 2028 project, ensuring alignment of GLA marketing campaign messaging with wider event marketing, communications, operational and business objectives.
  • Act as an effective account manager, working closely with the marketing and communications teams at UEFA, UK&I 2028 and the FA to proactively avoid conflicts and promote cross partner alignment of marketing and communications plans.
  • Lead the Marketing and Communications Working Group for EURO 2028 in London, ensuring representation from London agencies including London and Partners, Local Authorities, MET Police Service, TfL, and others. Report updates to the Tactical Partners Group.
  • Work with EURO 2028 project team members to anticipate future programme needs, proactively planning marketing and communications activity and advising stakeholders on risks, opportunities and direction.
  • Work with the GLA Marketing and Digital Communications Team to ensure GLA marketing campaign objectives, messaging and assets are promoted throughout the EURO 2028 marketing and communications plans.
  • Take a rigorous approach to planning and management, ensuring that objectives are clearly defined, and that appropriate/effective performance and project management processes are in place throughout the entire lifecycle of the project.
  • Manage the marketing and communications budget to ensure value for money and creating a campaign that delivers against the GLA EURO 2028 vision and objectives.

Requirements

  • Experience of managing the development and delivery of a high-profile, multi-channel, marketing and communications plan for a major sport event.
  • Knowledge of the structure of London Government, particularly the respective roles of Local Authorities, the Mayor and GLA and National Government; and a good understanding of how sport is managed and administered in London and nationally.
  • Experience of operating in a politically sensitive environment and handling communications in this environment.
  • Managing a large budget to deliver a high-profile campaign, working with multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience of using data, insight and evaluation to inform marketing and communications strategy.
  • Experience of planning and delivering operational comms for a major sport event.
