Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Based at the National Museum of Scotland, this full-time, fixed-term post will support the work of the Marketing and Communications team. This will include delivering event listings, producing our monthly e-newsletter, reporting on media coverage, commissioning photography and supporting production of marketing and media materials. You will be involved in a wide range of activity, from exhibitions and events to the promotion of our museum sites and collections.
  • This is a varied, busy and exciting role. Applicants should have experience of working across marketing and/or PR, preferably in an arts or culture setting, as well as the ability to plan and manage their time and prioritise their work. While this role does involve working with colleagues in our Digital Media team, social media content creation is not part of the job.
  • As a Marketing & Communications Assistant at National Museums Scotland you will :
  • - Support the delivery of marketing and communications across our museum sites and for special exhibitions with lead responsibility for some displays and for the National War Museum.
  • - Monitor of press office inbox, responding to some media enquiries with guidance and support from the Communications team and support the running of the press office section of the website
  • - Be responsible for planning and delivering mid-scale marketing campaigns for National Museum of Scotland events, including Museum Lates, supported by the Marketing Manager.
  • - Work to maximise the benefits of the CRM system including, Responsibility for creating the monthly enewsletter (over 70,000 subscribers) supported by the Marketing team.

Requirements

  • A relevant degree or equivalent, for example in marketing or public relations qualification (e.g. Institute of Marketing), etc or relevant experience in a similar role or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to produce clear, accurate, well-written copy
  • Experience of marketing and / or communications activities in a large organisation
