Own campus COP engagement and digital communications for EEI, with two halves: on campus COP31 events and online content, shaping student participation and climate communications.

  • Digital Communications: Shape EEI’s content across online channels to raise awareness and participation.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Align with EEI teams and campus partners to deliver two‑phase outreach and communications plans.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • The Earth Fellow will organise a COP cafe event to engage students and staff with climate diplomacy during COP31, and later create engaging digital content for EEI’s online channels.
  • The Edinburgh Earth Initiative (EEI) seeks a postgraduate student to support a two‑half project: campus COP31 engagement and digital communications support for EEI.

Requirements

  • Current University of Edinburgh postgraduate student in the ‘26/’27 academic year.
  • An interest in United Nations climate and environment meetings and what students and staff can learn from them.
  • Basic experience with organising events.
  • Basic experience using social media to engage an audience and encourage participation.
  • Excellent written communications skills including the ability to communicate complex information clearly and engagingly.
  • Ability to structure and prioritise a dynamic workload.
  • Ability to work proactively with colleagues with a variety of expertise; understanding and valuing different points of view.

Preferred

  • Ideally, candidates will be able to spread their work hours across at least two days of the week.
