Job Summary

Own communications to secure media coverage and protect the charity’s reputation while telling the story of England’s heritage to broad audiences.

  • Media relations: Build coverage across consumer and broadsheet outlets and expand the network of trusted contacts.
  • Reputation management: Protect credibility with stakeholders and the public through cohesive messaging and crisis readiness.
  • Campaign ownership: Lead storytelling from site care to community engagement through integrated campaigns.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Secure impactful media coverage that inspires people, strengthens English Heritage's reputation and supports our mission: to care for England's National Heritage Collection and share it with as many people as possible.
  • Play a key role in protecting and enhancing the charity's reputation.
  • Help tell the story of the charity and the work we do – from caring for England's most important historic sites to engaging with local communities across the country.
  • Create and deliver communications campaigns and projects.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience of creating and delivering successful communications campaigns and projects, preferably within the heritage or culture sectors.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the current media landscape, with existing contacts - across both consumer and corporate/broadsheet media - plus the ability to expand your media network and establish new contacts to generate coverage.
  • Experience of managing integrated campaigns and making the most of your budget.
  • Reputation and stakeholder management experience.
