Job Summary

Own the UK communications function to shape Shell’s reputation and strategic influence through integrated campaigns, stakeholder networks, crisis readiness, and executive enablement.

  • Lead integrated UK communications strategy and campaigns aligned to country and group priorities.
  • Build and sustain strategic stakeholder networks and advise senior leaders on messaging and engagement.
  • Drive UK reputation and crisis-ready communications, including content across platforms and emerging technologies.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Strategic communications leadership: Own Shell’s UK country internal and external communications strategy; deliver integrated campaigns aligned to UK Country and Group priorities
  • Stakeholder engagement: Lead engagement plans for the UK Country Chair team; build and maintain strategic networks with opinion leaders and influencers
  • Reputation planning: Drive UK reputation strategy and integrate with social investment and government & policy for a campaigning approach
  • Content & channels: Oversee creation of bold, best-in-class content across platforms; champion data-driven channel strategies and emerging technologies (including AI)
  • Social performance: Lead social impact management for UK assets/projects; ensure continuous improvement and assurance activities (e.g. internal community impact audits)
  • Crisis preparedness: Act as Shell UK country communications lead for crisis response and emergency preparedness for assets
  • Leadership & operations: Manage a team of six plus contractors; oversee a significant creative/content budget and Shell’s British Cycling sponsorship; set strategy for agency support
  • Executive enablement: Coach senior leaders on communications and engagement strategies; advise on communications and cultural transformation
