Job Description

Responsibilities
  • The Communications and Marketing Officer helps bring Forestry England’s Yorkshire District work to life, promoting and enhancing the district’s image, increasing visibility, and encouraging people to visit the nation’s forests.
  • Custodian of the district’s visual and written content and a champion of the diverse range of work in the district.
  • Supports the delivery of the Communications and Marketing strategy for Yorkshire District, reporting to the Communications and Marketing Manager.
  • Promotes Forestry England by telling the story of the nation’s forests and the benefits they provide for climate, nature, people and the economy.
  • Creates engaging and dynamic content to support and promote activities district-wide.
  • Works on activities that directly deliver Forestry England’s national strategy and those that are critical to enabling this, such as civil engineering, fundraising and projects, and estate management.
  • Promotes Yorkshire Forest District as a leading provider of outdoor recreation activities and supports teams to achieve business plan objectives.
Requirements
  • Hours – 22.2 hours per week
  • The post will initially be based at Forestry England’s Yorkshire Office in Pickering; it will move to the Dalby Forest Office in autumn 2027.
  • Regular travel around Forestry England’s estate in Yorkshire will be required.
  • Occasional trips outside of Yorkshire for Forestry England-wide meetings, which may require an overnight stay.
  • Successful candidates will undergo a criminal record check and the government baseline personnel security standard check.
