Job Summary

Own end-to-end strategic communications for defence, dual-use, and space clients, turning complex technical content into clear, compelling narratives that resonate with diverse stakeholders and media.

  • Strategic Communications: shape messaging and campaigns across Defence, Space, and high-tech audiences to drive visibility and trust.
  • Content & Media: write press releases and thought leadership, tailor content for LinkedIn, websites, and industry outlets, and manage media outreach.
  • Campaign Delivery: plan, execute, and track targeted campaigns with independent or team delivery to hit deadlines.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Communications & Storytelling: Develop communication strategies that position clients effectively within Defence, Dual-Use, and Space ecosystems.
  • Translate complex technical information into clear, engaging content tailored for different audiences.
  • Content Creation & Messaging: Write press releases, thought leadership articles, newsletters, and digital copy.
  • Create content optimised for platforms such as LinkedIn, client websites, and industry publications.
  • Ensure consistent tone of voice and compliance with industry sensitivities.
  • Media & Stakeholder Engagement: Manage media relations, journalist outreach, and industry press opportunities.
  • Support client participation in conferences, podcasts, and panel discussions.
  • Build relationships with stakeholders across Defence, Space, and high-tech communities.
  • Campaign Management & Delivery: Plan and execute targeted communications campaigns.
  • Track performance metrics and provide reporting on engagement.

Requirements

  • Sector Experience: Familiarity with Defence, Aerospace, or Space industries, with the ability to communicate effectively in these contexts.
  • Communications Expertise: Strong writing, editing, and messaging skills across multiple formats.
  • Digital Competence: Experience with social media, CMS platforms, and analytics tools.
  • Professionalism: Self-motivated, reliable, and able to manage multiple freelance projects.
  • Confidentiality: Awareness of sensitivities around classified or restricted information.

Preferred

  • Bonus Skills: Experience in crisis communications, geopolitical risk, or dual-use technology policy.
