Job Summary

Own local community communications and digital engagement for policing priorities, with a focus on public safety messaging, media liaison, and cross-county collaboration in the south of Cambridgeshire.

  • Own local community engagement and issue-specific communications to drive public safety awareness and crime-prevention messaging.
  • Manage social media relations, campaign planning, and internal communications to support policing priorities and public perception.
  • Coordinate with the south county senior officer on local policing narratives, media liaison, and cross-venue coverage to deliver measurable outcomes.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Deliver targeted communications and engagement activity to local communities which communicates and consults with the public on force priorities
  • Find communications solutions to support emerging local issues
  • Highlight force visibility and communicate specifically on crime prevention work
  • Support the public to take steps to stay safe and reduce risk of crime
  • Work alongside the senior communications officer for the south of the county, covering Huntingdon, Cambridge, Ely and South Cambs, with a specific focus on local policing
  • Engage in social media relations with the public, campaign planning, media liaison and internal communications
  • Contribute to innovative communications that support policing priorities and drive results

Requirements

  • At least 12 months communications experience
  • Experience of working on digital communications for an organisation or campaign
  • Excellent writing skills – able to write in concise, error-free English, with good attention to detail
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills – able to articulate clearly, both verbally and in writing, to a variety of people at all levels
  • Demonstrated interest in digital media and communications
  • Ability to work well in a team, but also able to work independently
  • Administrative skills and a methodical approach to handling tasks and meeting deadlines
  • Two A-levels or equivalent
  • Ability to work under pressure and outside normal working hours when required

  • Adobe Photoshop
  • InDesign
  • A full, clean, current driving licence is desirable
