Job Summary

Own and coordinate campaigns and communications for ACTSA with a focus on mobilizing civil society partners, volunteers, and diaspora networks to drive action and fundraising outcomes.

  • Campaign ownership: lead strategic planning, messaging, and cross-channel execution across digital, press, and events.
  • Partnerships and engagement: collaborate with Southern Africa civil society groups and volunteers to amplify campaigns at national and global levels.
  • Public engagement and fundraising linkage: create engagement opportunities that tie campaigns to targeted donor and volunteer fundraising efforts.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver, and evaluate ACTSA campaigns and communications activities across channels.
  • Draft and distribute press releases, craft campaign messages, and manage content across website, email, and social media.
  • Coordinate with civil society partners and stakeholders, support online and in-person campaign events, and mobilize supporters to take action.
  • Write and edit advocacy materials, briefing documents, and public statements; monitor media coverage and Southern Africa developments; contribute to strategy discussions.
  • Maintain consistent branding and messaging, monitor analytics to improve reach and engagement, and support fundraising and membership communications.
  • Lead campaigns and communications work aligned to strategic goals; build campaigns with volunteers and staff to execute initiatives.
  • Collaborate with civil society groups in Southern Africa to amplify human rights campaigns at national and international levels.
  • Develop public engagement opportunities.
  • Direct communications in support of fundraising and volunteer fundraising.
  • Recruit, supervise, and support volunteers involved in communications, engagement and campaigning.

Requirements

  • Lead ACTSA’s campaigns and communications work.
  • Lead small teams with ACTSA members (volunteers) and staff to ensure campaign events and partnership initiatives are implemented.
  • Collaborate with civil society groups in and from Southern Africa to amplify campaigns for human rights at national and international levels.
  • Develop public engagement opportunities.
  • Direct ACTSA’s communications in support of fundraising, linking our campaigns to targeted appeals and volunteer fundraising.
  • Recruit, supervise and support volunteers involved in ACTSA’s communications, engagement and campaigning work.
