North East Construction Technical Excellence College (CTEC)
The North East Construction Technical Excellence College (CTEC) is revolutionising construction training, combining green, digital, modern, and traditional skills to develop a high-skilled workforce across the region.
Led by Sunderland College and based at the Housing Innovation and Construction Skills Academy (HICSA), the North East CTEC brings together further education colleges, universities, independent training organisations, schools, employers and key stakeholders to boost training, raise industry standards, address skills shortages, and drive economic growth. Backed by a £100 million national investment, the CTECs aim to train 40,000 skilled workers by 2029 — building 1.5 million homes and vital infrastructure.

About The Role
The Stakeholder Engagement and Social Manager will implement a region wide Social Value Framework to be utilised by Further Education Providers and construction businesses across the region. The role will be key to establishing strategic partnerships between industry and education aligned to the objectives of the CTEC, developing new initiatives to enhance learner experience and supporting businesses to achieve their social value commitments.
Role Responsibilities
  • Maintain a deep and contemporary understanding of construction sector and cross-sector developments, trends and best practices which impact on skills needs – horizon scanning and strategic workforce fore-sighting to ensure the CTEC partnership remains responsive to industry demands.
  • Develop and implement a regionwide Social Value Framework for Further Education, supporting providers to effectively engage with industry, raise awareness of the variety of social value activity and support small and medium size businesses to work with FE providers.
  • Engage with Construction businesses across the region both at preconstruction and construction stage, to leverage social value commitments to support the ambitions of the North East CTEC.
  • Support North East CTEC Hub and Spoke providers to effectively engage with industry, enabling providers to develop sustainable strategic partnerships.
  • Work with main contractors to coordinate and leverage supply chain engagement with social value activity.
Qualifications
  • Level 4 or equivalent work-based qualification (or with demonstrable relevant professional experience)
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Previous experience of working in a construction social value role or similar environment.
  • Significant experience of developing and leading social value strategies and plans to deliver targeted results and outcomes
  • Experience of successful partnership working, including for example, with colleges and independent training providers, universities, businesses, charitable sector, funders, local or national government
  • Experience of creating project plans, supporting multiple projects and seeing projects through to timely completion
