The Role
Are you an experienced social work academic or practitioner looking to shape the future of social work education and practice? We are seeking a Senior Lecturer in Social Work to join our dynamic Department of Social Work and Social Care at Kingston University.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to innovative, research-informed teaching that prepares students for contemporary and complex practice. You will design and deliver high-quality teaching, provide academic leadership across modules or programmes, and support a diverse student body to achieve their potential.
As a Senior Lecturer, you will play a key role in curriculum development, practice learning, and strengthening partnerships with local authorities, the voluntary and community sector. You will also contribute to research and/or knowledge exchange activity, helping to deliver impact beyond the University and enhance professional practice. In addition, you will support team leadership, mentoring colleagues, and contributing to the wider academic development of the Department.
The Person
You will be an experienced and motivated social work academic or practitioner with a commitment to excellence in teaching, partnership working, and professional impact.
You will have a strong understanding of contemporary social work practice, policy, and education. You will also possess and evidence of research, scholarship, or knowledge exchange activity, with potential to develop a national profile. You should also have experience of building effective partnerships with external stakeholders. We are looking for a collaborative and proactive individual with strong communication and leadership skills, who can inspire students, contribute to team development, and connect academic work with real-world practice and impact.
Applicants must meet Kingston University’s learning and teaching standards. By the end of probation, you must achieve the relevant UKPSF recognition if not already obtained—either through our accredited Introduction to Learning and Teaching programme for new lecturers or the Kingston Academic Practice Standards framework for experienced educators.

This is a full time, permanent position with a starting salary of £50,160 per annum.
