Be Part of Something Special from Day One

We're opening a brand-new, purpose-built veterinary practice in Linlithgow and are looking for a passionate Veterinary Surgeon to join us on this exciting journey.

This is a rare opportunity to help shape the culture, clinical standards, workflows, and future direction of a new practice from the very beginning. Working in a modern, supportive, and collaborative environment, you'll have the freedom to contribute your ideas, skills, and enthusiasm while helping build something truly special for the local community.

Our vision is simple: to create a genuinely local, friendly veterinary practice where clients and patients receive exceptional care in a welcoming and personal environment.

The practice is owned by a local veterinary professional who grew up in Linlithgow, has remained actively involved in the community, and is passionate about creating a true "village feel" practice that serves the town they call home.

We are committed to delivering high-quality veterinary medicine, excellent client service, and fostering a workplace where colleagues support one another, learn together, and enjoy coming to work. A positive, collaborative, and no-blame culture sits at the heart of everything we do.

The Practice

Our new surgery has been thoughtfully designed with both patients and colleagues in mind. Bright, spacious, and fully equipped, it will provide everything you need to deliver outstanding clinical care.
Facilities include:

  • Modern consulting rooms
  • Separate dog and cat wards
  • Fully equipped in-house laboratory
  • Ultrasound
  • Digital radiography
  • Dental radiography
  • Air-conditioned throughout
  • Comfortable, separate staff rest area
  • Thoughtful and flexible diary management

As a new and independently owned practice, we can build our rota around the right person. We are keen to offer flexibility with working hours and diary structure as the practice grows.

About You

  • RCVS registered
  • Confident in first-opinion medicine and surgery
  • Comfortable performing routine dentistry
  • Interested in surgery and dentistry (desirable but not essential)
  • Friendly, proactive, and approachable
  • A strong team player who enjoys collaboration
  • Passionate about delivering exceptional patient and client care
  • Excited by the opportunity to help shape a brand-new practice
  • Committed to continued professional development, with CPD actively encouraged

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary up to £62,000 FTE (dependent on experience)
  • Generous CPD allowance, with future certificate support available
  • 6.6 weeks' annual leave
  • Additional day off for your birthday
  • Private health insurance
  • Contributory pension scheme

  • Access to colleague wellbeing and pastoral support programmes
  • Cycle to Work scheme

Why Linlithgow?

Linlithgow offers an exceptional quality of life, combining historic charm, beautiful surroundings, and excellent transport links.

The town is perhaps best known for the magnificent Linlithgow Palace, birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots, where summer events and open-air ceilidhs bring the historic grounds to life.

Nature is never far away, with picturesque walks around Linlithgow Loch and the scenic trails of Beecraigs Country Park providing the perfect opportunity to unwind after a busy day.

Despite its peaceful setting, Linlithgow is ideally positioned between Edinburgh and Glasgow, with excellent motorway connections and a centrally located train station making commuting straightforward from Edinburgh, Falkirk, Glasgow, Stirling and surrounding areas.

What truly sets Linlithgow apart is its strong sense of community. From the famous Marches Day celebrations to numerous local events throughout the year, there is a genuine feeling of pride, belonging and support. It's a warm, welcoming place where relationships matter - and where people genuinely care about their pets.
