Develop content that supports enrollment, retention, advancement, and community engagement goals.
Collaborate with departments to translate complex academic and institutional information into accessible, engaging narratives.
Ensure all content aligns with the institution’s brand voice, tone, and messaging guidelines.
Maintain consistency across platforms while tailoring messages for specific audiences (e.g., prospective students, faculty, alumni, influencers, and community leaders).
Model professional decorum and mutual respect in all personal interactions.
Comply with district policies, procedures and directives, state and federal regulations, orders and statutes and collective bargaining agreements.
Support and advance Spokane Colleges’ strategic plan and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Associate degree in Communications, Journalism, English, or Marketing. Or an equivalent mix of education and experience that demonstrates the candidate meets all competency requirements for this position.
1-2 years of professional web writing experience, preferably in higher education.
Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
Ability to write for diverse audiences and platforms.
Strong understanding of SEO, digital content strategy, and analytics.
Experience with content management systems (CMS), particularly Modern Campus.
Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills.
Work is performed in an office environment with frequent interruptions and background noise.
Work is sedentary.
Seldom move up to 25 lbs.

Preferred

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, or Marketing or in a related field.
3+ years of professional writing experience, preferably for websites in higher education.
Experience working in a college or university communications office.
Familiarity with AP style and editorial best practices.
Knowledge of accessibility standards for digital content.
