Job Summary

Own frontline public information and inquiry responses with a hands on service delivery focus and exposure to public affairs and press handling.

  • Respond to enquiries via phone and email using approved messaging to ensure accuracy and consistent Commission tone.
  • Support clear, timely electoral information delivery and briefing materials for public access.
  • Collaborate with public affairs and cross-team colleagues on complaints handling and information requests.

Job Description

Responsibilities
  • Respond to enquiries via telephone and shared email inboxes using established guidance, including FAQs and approved messaging, to ensure responses are accurate, consistent and aligned with the Commission’s tone of voice.
  • Support the delivery of the Commission’s public information service so the public can access clear, accurate and timely information about the UK’s electoral system.
  • Assist with preparation of briefing materials, work with public affairs and media colleagues, and contribute to the handling of press enquiries.
  • Join the Customer Services Team within the wider External Communications function and support complaints handling and information delivery.
  • Exposure to public affairs activity and insight into how the Commission engages with senior external stakeholders
Requirements
  • Prior experience within a communications function is not essential
  • You will bring strong communication skills, a proactive and curious approach, and a genuine interest in helping the public access important information
  • You will also be adaptable, able to manage a varied workload, and confident working with colleagues across different teams
Preferred
  • An interest in public service and the democratic process will help you to succeed in this role.
  • Exposure to public affairs and media colleagues (and handling of press enquiries) may be relevant over time
