Job Description
ULTRATEND is a marketing-as-a-service provider — a 360-degree execution partner for growing mid-sized companies.
We deliver across two verticals: Global Exhibition Solutions, designing, building and managing exhibition presence for clients across Europe, the Middle East and North America, and Digital Growth Solutions, covering performance marketing, content and e-commerce management.
The model is deliberately simple. Our clients own their strategy and their brand. We own the delivery — the stand, the build, the logistics, the campaign, the reporting. We work vertical-agnostically with mid-sized companies who need a partner that executes rather than one that re-strategises.
ULTRATEND LTD is registered in the UK, with a sister entity in the United States. Our roots in exhibitions run back to 2015.
We are building our UK operation now. This is the first senior commercial hire into that build.
The roleWe’re hiring a Business Development Director to own new business across the UK market.
This is a senior individual contributor role today, with the scope to build and lead a UK commercial team as the operation grows. You’ll report directly into the leadership team — one line, no matrix, decisions made quickly.
The remit is primarily Global Exhibition Solutions, with Digital Growth Solutions as a natural cross-sell into the same accounts. You’ll own the market end to end: your targeting, your approach, your pipeline, your close.
What you’ll own• The full sales cycle, from first conversation to signed contract. Inbound is minimal by design — this is a self-sourced patch, and we’re hiring someone who prefers it that way.
• Multi-show annual programmes, not one-off transactions. Our stronger mid-sized clients run exhibition budgets in excess of £100,000 a year across multiple regions. Landing and growing those accounts is the job.
• Commercial quality, not just volume. You’ll be accountable for the margin on what you win, not only the top line. Improving margin performance in the UK market is an explicit part of this role.
• Cross-sell into Digital Growth Solutions where the account supports it.
• Order booking, as your headline performance measure, with pipeline discipline maintained in our CRM.
• Building the UK team, as volume justifies it.
You’ll have proposal and bid support from our central bids team. Everything upstream of that is yours.
What we’re looking forEssential• 8–10 years in B2B business development, with a track record selling to mid-market and mid-sized companies
• A demonstrated history of meeting monthly, quarterly and annual quota — consistently, and evidenced
• An established network across the UK marketing and events community, and a strong working understanding of how mid-sized marketing teams plan, budget and buy
• Experience owning a full sales cycle without inbound support
• Commercial discipline: you understand margin, you can hold price, and you can explain why you walked away from a deal
• Confident CRM user, with genuine pipeline hygiene — the platform matters less than the habit
• Based in the UK, with the right to work here. We are not able to offer visa sponsorship for this role.
Desirable• Background in exhibitions, events, experiential or an integrated marketing agency
• Experience selling internationally delivered programmes across Europe, the Middle East or North America
• Exposure to digital marketing or e-commerce services
• Full UK driving licence
Location and travelThe role is home-based and you can work from anywhere in the UK. We’d prefer someone in or around Greater London for travel proximity — central London residency isn’t needed, and there’s no office attendance requirement.
Expect roughly 30–40% of your time in client meetings across Greater London, and a further 20% travelling elsewhere in the UK. Rail travel and overnight stays are reimbursed. A driving licence is useful but not essential.
Package• £70,000 base salary
• Uncapped commission — £120,000 OTE, with accelerators above target. Commission is paid on the gross margin you generate, so stronger commercial outcomes pay you more.
• 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
• Workplace pension via auto-enrolment
• Home-based working, with full autonomy over how you structure your week
• Business travel and expenses reimbursed
The role is home-based and self-managed.
How we hireA three-stage process. We review every application, and only shortlisted candidates are invited forward at each stage.
