Job Summary

Own the communications function for a small design watchdog by shaping a cross-channel strategy, producing content across the website, LinkedIn and newsletters, and feeding stakeholder feedback into future plans.

  • Cross-channel Strategy: Set and drive a unified communications plan and content calendar.
  • Stakeholder Feedback Loops: Gather input from partners and audiences to guide future activities.
  • Public Relations & Accessibility: Lead media engagement, crisis response, web accessibility standards, events support, and annual reporting.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Develop a communication strategy for the organisations identifying the range of audiences, methods of communication and programme of delivery.
  • Create content for different communication channels including the DCFW website, LinkedIn page, newsletter and any other appropriate outlets based on the work undertaken by DCFW.
  • Track media coverage, response to communications and provide analysis to feed back into the communication strategy.
  • Undertake stakeholder engagement to collect feedback that will inform the focus of future activities.
  • Manage the production of DCFW’s Annual Report collaborating with the Chief Executive and Chair.
  • When appropriate, engage media outlets with articles and in respond to events and/or to manage crisis moments to protect the organisation’s reputation.
  • Ensure all web content meets current accessibility requirements.
  • Provide support in the preparation and running of DCFW events.
  • Support the delivery of the Design Review Service.
  • Maintain effective records, documentation and reporting systems for both internal and external use.
  • Where necessary prepare for and attend meetings/events of DDCFW.

Requirements

  • At least two years relevant experience in communications, marketing, or a related filed.
  • A degree or equivalent in public relations, media communications, marketing or another relevant subject.
  • The ability to communicate in the Welsh language would assist the post-holder.
  • Exceptional communication skills to convey key messages to a range of audiences.
  • Experience of establishing and implementing a communications strategy for a professional organisation.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms, content management systems and other digital communication tools.
  • Ability to interpret different information and create a range of content in different formats.
  • Exceptional organisational, presentation and IT skills and administrative self-sufficiency.
  • Efficient, motivated and able to work under pressure, supporting and being supported by colleagues in a small team.
  • A high degree of energy, enthusiasm, initiative and self-motivation.

Preferred

  • Experience and knowledge of the built environment industry and/or public sector organisations is desirable.
