Job Description

Responsibilities

Identify, manage and deliver opportunities for the firm to elevate its profile and reputation in the market through media coverage and other external communications channels;
Develop and maintain relationships with relevant reporters and editors;
Take the lead on drafting and editing of PR and communications materials, including press releases, pitches, media briefings, messaging, Q&As and presentations;
Build and nurture effective relationships with partners and other key stakeholders;
Prepare partners and other stakeholders for media engagement, including developing materials such as briefings, key messages and talking points;
Assist and support senior members of the communications team with issues management;
In conjunction with senior team members, provide regular oversight of and guidance to external PR agencies in their efforts to support the firm, practices, and the communications team more broadly;
Coach junior members of the communications team;
Work beyond normal business hours, as needed;
Additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

At least 7+ years of experience in public relations, preferably within legal or professional services (required). PR agency experience a plus
Proven experience managing PR strategy across multiple jurisdictions in the United States; Global experience a plus
Significant media relations experience essential; strong existing legal and business media relationships desired
Demonstrated success developing and implementing PR plans and activities, and securing high-profile media coverage
Ability to influence and build trust with individuals at all levels of an organization, including senior and executive level personnel
Experience with issues management and ability to remain calm and clear-headed when responding to media attention involving sensitive topics
