Collaborate with engineering and manage vendors to implement recommendations

Job Description

Responsibilities

Develop and execute an integrated SEO, Answer Engine Optimization (AEO), and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) strategy aligned with business and marketing goals.
Own organic search performance: keyword strategy, technical SEO audits, site architecture, page experience, and content optimization.
Build and lead the company's approach to AEO/GEO — optimizing content structure, schema markup, and citation-worthy formatting to increase visibility and accurate representation in AI Overviews, LLM chat responses, and answer engines.
Monitor how the brand appears across AI search surfaces (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot, Google AI Overviews) and develop tactics to improve share of voice.
Partner with engineering teams to implement technical recommendations, including structured data, crawlability, product schema, site speed, and semantic markup.
Serve as the internal authority on organic and AI-driven search, educating stakeholders, managing agencies and contractors, and translating industry shifts into clear roadmap recommendations
Define, report on, and track KPIs across organic traffic, rankings, citation frequency in AI answers, referral traffic from AI platforms, and conversion impact.
Manage relationships with SEO/GEO tools and vendors (e.g., Ahrefs, SEMrush, Screaming Frog, and emerging AEO/GEO monitoring platforms).

Requirements

5+ years of SEO experience, including technical, on-page, and content strategy.
Demonstrated experience or a strong point of view on AEO/GEO — optimizing for AI-driven search and answer engines.
Deep understanding of how LLMs retrieve, rank, and cite content (RAG, embeddings, and the role of structured data in machine readability).
Proficiency with SEO tools (Ahrefs, SEMrush, Google Search Console, Screaming Frog) and analytics platforms (GA4, Looker Studio).
Familiarity with schema markup, technical site audits, and Core Web Vitals.
Strong analytical skills — comfortable pulling and interpreting data to build a narrative and justify strategy.

Preferred

Experience running structured experiments to test AI citation or visibility changes.
Familiarity with prompt engineering or LLM behavior from a builder's perspective.
Background in content strategy or editorial work.
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
