Shelter Institute is a third-generation family-owned business on a 68-acre campus in Woolwich, Maine, integrating three specialized divisions since 1974: Shelter Courses, our renowned building school teaching thousands of students worldwide the art of energy-efficient homebuilding from site design to engineering at sheltercourses.com; Shelter Design Build, providing expert timber frame design and construction services for homes, barns, and commercial structures with energy-efficient solutions featuring structural insulated panels; and Shelter Tools, a curated collection of woodworking tools including hard-to-find hand tools from around the world, where our knowledgeable staff creates a friendly environment for customers to handle tools and ask questions.
