Georgia’s diverse immigrant communities are a driving force of the state’s economy. Strong population growth among these communities continues to fuel economic expansion in a state that prides itself on being No. 1 for business.Yet, even as they contribute to Georgia’s prosperity, many immigrants and underserved communities still face barriers to economic and social equity.This is where the work of the Latin American Association (LAA) comes in. For 54 years, the LAA has helped immigrant and multicultural communities overcome the barriers to economic mobility and self‐sufficiency. Along the way, its footprint has extended beyond Buford Highway to Gwinnett County and Northwest Georgia.The LAA is a one‐stop resource hub. Here, clients can receive crisis intervention, and immigrants can explore pathways to immigration benefits. Adults can learn English and computer skills and connect with employers. Women can access tools and support to make their entrepreneurship dreams a reality.The LAA serves as a catalyst that moves our communities toward achieving the American dream and building long‐term prosperity.Georgia’s economy stands to gain from the success of the communities we serve.
