About Carole Robertson Center for Learning
The Carole Robertson Center for Learning is a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating, enriching, and empowering children and families through comprehensive child and family development programs, including early childhood education (ages 0-5), out-of-school-time programs (ages 5-17); and comprehensive, customized family support programs. The Center serves nearly 2000 children and families in 27 communities throughout Chicago, from diverse settings including three flagship sites in Little Village, North Lawndale, and Albany Park; in partner schools and community-based centers; home-based providers; and home visiting for expectant parents and their young children. Programs serve children at every stage of development, from before birth through age 17. All programs are bilingual in English and Spanish. Children with special needs are welcome in all programs. The Carole Robertson Center for Learning is named in memory of Carole Robertson, one of four girls – along with Addie Mae Collins, Cynthia Wesley, and Denise McNair – killed in the 1963 racially motivated bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama, during the Civil Rights Movement.
