The Admiral Nimitz Foundation was established in 1971 to provide funding for the Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz Naval Museum, a museum honoring Fredericksburg’s native son and Commander-in-Chief of Allied Forces, Pacific Ocean Area. Since then, the Foundation’s efforts have built a well-established and respected institution, now called the National Museum of the Pacific War which annually welcomes over 120,000 visitors, including about 15,000 students on field trips and reaches out to thousands more virtually.The National Museum of the Pacific War is a dynamic, world-class experience designed for visitors of all ages and backgrounds.
