Job Description
Responsibilities
- Actively collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team to meet project deadlines and support strategic goals.
- Update KansasCityYMCA.org and related websites with accurate, timely content for prospects, members, and program participants.
- Assist in content writing and scheduling for social media posts on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X/Twitter, YouTube, and emerging platforms.
- Use creative software to update forms, create simple marketing materials, and resize/adapt graphics for multiple channels.
- Collect, organize, and archive member stories, photos, videos, and testimonials for campaigns, ensuring proper releases and usage rights.
- Help proof and quality-check written and creative projects for accuracy, clarity, and brand alignment.
- Track and respond to reviews on Google and Facebook to support member satisfaction and retention.
- Maintain and update KCYMarketing.com for internal team resources and templates.
- Support event marketing, including pre-event promotion, onsite logistics, photography/video, and live social media coverage.
- Monitor social media comments and messages, providing timely responses or routing inquiries to the appropriate team member.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or related field from an accredited college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience working effectively with people of diverse backgrounds, abilities, opinions, and perspectives.
- Ability to make independent, sound decisions in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Travel locally within the association’s service area and work occasional evenings/weekends for events.
Preferred
- Experience with Canva and/or Adobe Creative Cloud applications such as InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat preferred, or willingness to be trained to assist with updates/edits to marketing materials.
- Basic photography and video editing skills are a plus.
