Job Description
Responsibilities
- Works with Cherokee Nation service departments, Cherokee Nation administration and local, regional and national media to protect, promote and preserve the positive image of the Cherokee Nation and its citizens.
- Responds to social media inquiries, contributes to message development and collaborates on proactive social media strategy development and analytics.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year college or university in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Advertising, or related field; no substitutions.
- At least three (3) years of experience in a related field.
- An individual should know Database software, Design software, Internet software, Spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting.
Preferred
- Proficient and up to date with current social media skills and tactics, smartphone photo and video editing skills preferred.
- Strong writing and public speaking skills and knowledge of crisis communication procedures.
- Knowledge of AP Style is a must.
- Adobe Photoshop skills preferred.
- Skills in Public Relations distribution software (such as Meltwater, Vocus, etc. preferred.
- Working knowledge of newsroom environment preferred.
