Job Summary

Own media relations, proactive outreach, internal and external communications, and brand visibility programs across press, awards, speaking, and internal communications; you will lead story development, media strategy, and coordination with cross-functional teams.

  • Ownership of press strategy, pitching, and response management
  • Oversight of internal communications, awards, and calendar coordination

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists, editors, and industry media; drive proactive pitching with timely, well-angled story ideas
  • Manage inbound press inquiries and coordinate response
  • Track coverage and maintain the Press section of Boulder’s website
  • Support announcement communications — drafting, editing, and coordinating press releases and supporting materials
  • Bring market and media context to communications planning, using industry trends and news cycles to sharpen Boulder’s angles and timing
  • Maintain Boulder Care's company LinkedIn presence, including publishing cadence and content development across announcements and milestones, as part of Boulder’s broader brand visibility strategy.
  • Manage Boulder’s earned speaking calendar — tracking deadlines, owning submissions, and coordinating executive prep and on-the-ground support
  • Maintain an awards calendar; research and identify new recognition opportunities across addiction treatment, healthcare, and innovation
  • Lead award application development from content drafting through submission and follow-up
  • Manage content and coordination for the monthly All Hands meeting — gathering updates, coordinating department presentations, and supporting leadership messaging

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience in communications, PR, or media relations
  • Background in an agency or lean in-house team
  • Mission alignment and intellectual curiosity are non-negotiable; healthcare or health tech experience is a plus
  • Operationally excellent. Proven ability to manage multiple workstreams without things slipping and experience building the systems that make that possible.
  • Media-hungry. You follow the news, find the angle, and invest in journalist relationships as an ongoing practice.
  • Strong writer with range, with ability to shift voice and format across a media pitch, an internal announcement, and a social post.
  • Strategically curious. You ask the right questions before diving in, flag risks proactively, and know when to push back

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field

Benefits

  • Contribute to meaningful, life-saving work!
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and short-term disability benefits designed to take care of our employees and their families
  • Mental Health Services via insurance coverage, including Talkspace and EAP for continuous care
  • Supplemental mental health services through Talkspace for care needed following tough patient visits
  • 4 weeks of vacation accrued per calendar year with a tenured increase to 5 weeks at 2 years of employment
  • Sick leave accrued at 1 hr for every 30 hrs paid
  • 9 Paid Holidays per year
  • 12 weeks of 100% paid parental leave for the birth or adoption of a child (after 6 months of employment)
  • 401(k) retirement savings
  • Remote friendly with hardware provided to complete your work duties
