Job Summary
Own and lead a public communications unit for the Library, guiding strategic plans, operations, and external messaging, with responsibilities including coordinating city-wide communications, advising leadership, and serving as PIO.
Job Description
Responsibilities
- Developing comprehensive communications plans aligned with business operations and department strategic plan while managing the plan through execution
- Overseeing team development and day-to-day operations of the communications unit
- Serving as an advisor to library administration and leadership teams
- Serve as the Public Information Officer for the Library department within the City of Fort Worth, coordinating with City communications units
- Coordinate interdepartmental City communication projects and serve as liaison as needed to elected officials
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Business Administration, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Communications, Public Administration or a related field
- Four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience in public relations, journalism, marketing, communications, or a closely related field
- Two (2) years of administrative management or supervisory responsibility
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid Texas driver's license
Preferred
- Experience in strategic campaign development
- Project management experience in multiple areas of communications simultaneously
- Major market media relations experience
