The Creative Director will own the Instagram channel for The Highlander, drive content creation and coordination with staff and contributors, and develop engagement strategies across social platforms while attending staff meetings and supporting design tasks.

Job Description
Responsibilities
- The Creative Director’s primary task is managing The Highlander’s Instagram page, which has 600+ followers.
- The position is responsible for communicating with Highlander staff and guest contributors, ensuring that permissions have been obtained and posted content is accurate, and following the design guidelines set forth in The Highlander handbook.
- Create content for Instagram (primary duty)
- Coordinate with writers and editors
- Provide suggestions and insight into other social media platforms to utilize and/or innovative ways to drive engagement on current platforms
- Attend Highlander Staff meetings
- The Creative Director may also be asked to: Create flyers/advertising designs; Support design and layout of printed news
Requirements
- The position requires strong design, organizational, and communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively, an openness to others’ ideas, and a genuine interest in content creation, news reporting, and/or storytelling.
Benefits
- This position is benefits-eligible for workers’ compensation and will receive 1 hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum of 48 hours per year.
