Job Summary

Drive cross‑channel conservation comms for The Wilderness Society, adapting national messaging for local impact and leading webinars and content programs.

  • Adapt national content for local relevance and draft talking points, blogs, emails, and event statements.
  • Must-have: 3+ years in journalism/communications or related field and experience with CRM systems (EveryAction) or CMS (WordPress/Drupal).
  • Standout: Technical lead for webinars and live events and strong collaboration with External Affairs.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Adapt national content and messaging for local relevance, ensuring resonance with regional media, audiences, and decisionmakers by drafting and editing talking points, memos, blogs, emails, social content, events, and official statements.
  • Translate dense, technical, or policy-heavy materials into clear, accessible communications for public audiences.
  • Ensure all content is aligned with brand voice, accuracy standards and messaging guidelines.
  • Collaborate with External Affairs teams to plan and execute integrated, cross‑channel content and major creative initiatives—ranging from social and digital assets to film launches, webinars, and story maps—aligned to engagement, audience acquisition, and cultivation goals.
  • Publish to owned channels including organization website and assist with creating content for social media accounts to keep content timely, fresh, and updated.
  • Compiles and tracks KPI’s, email and SMS results and other metrics to be delivered to External Affairs and conservation teams.
  • Regularly communicate with TWS membership team to identify opportunities to fundraise for TWS and to inform and educate our members about our advocacy work.
  • Support coalition communication work when necessary to ensure aligned messaging, shared assets, and coordinated timing of material release.
