Job Summary

Drive strategic communications for Minnesota Trout Unlimited, owning multimedia campaigns and cross-channel outreach with chapters and volunteers.

  • Own multimedia communications campaigns and outreach coordination for advocacy, habitat restoration, and education.
  • Must-have: Bachelor’s in communications, journalism, or marketing plus proven campaign planning ability.
  • Standout: involvement with multiple platforms and partnerships across a conservation nonprofit network.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and manage strategic communications for MNTU through newsletters, emails, website, and social media platforms
  • Coordinate outreach with chapters and members engaging in advocacy, habitat restoration, fundraising, education, and other MNTU initiatives and programs
  • Organize press and media opportunities with MNTU staff and volunteers
  • Assist the Executive Director with managing MNTU general operations

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area of study, such as communication, journalism, or marketing
  • Excellent written communication skills, including strong writing and content editing
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and implement a multimedia communications campaign
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member with a wide variety of individuals—staff, volunteers, partners—in achieving organizational goals
  • Well-organized, self-motivated, and self-directed
  • Excellent communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and a strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and various social media platforms (Meta, Instagram, TikTok, etc.)
  • Valid driver’s license and ready access to a motor vehicle

Preferred

  • Work experience developing and implementing strategic communication campaigns
  • Work experience in project management, including work with contracts and budgets
  • Ability to shoot and edit video and photography
  • Experience with website design, editing, and content creation
  • Familiarity with factors impacting the health and sustainability of aquatic ecosystems
  • Passion for protecting and restoring coldwater fisheries and their watersheds
  • Interest in or experience with trout angling
