The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association (IRFA) was formed in 2002 to represent the state’s liquid renewable fuels industry. IRFA brings together Iowa ethanol and biodiesel producers to foster the development and growth of the state’s biofuels industry through education, promotion and infrastructure development. IRFA is committed to maintaining Iowa’s leadership in renewable fuels and value-added co-products production.Number one in the nation for biofuels production, Iowa has 42 ethanol plants capable of producing over 4.6 billion gallons annually. In addition, Iowa has 10 biodiesel plants with the capacity to produce nearly 416 million gallons annually.
