Job Summary

Own long-form direct-response copy for a DTC wellness brand, turning VOC into VSLs and advertorials while collaborating with the founder on testing and strategy.

Own long-form scripts and angle development from VOC to finished assets
Collaborate on testing/iteration systems and decide when to iterate
Translate scripts into clear briefs for editors and creators

Job Description

Responsibilities

Write long-form VSL scripts (2–10+ minutes) as primary acquisition assets
Write advertorials, native ads, UGC scripts, hooks, leads, and landing page sections
Mine voice-of-customer insight (reviews, Reddit, Facebook groups, competitor ads) and turn it into angles people actually respond to
Develop new hooks and angles rather than waiting to be fed ideas
Translate finished scripts into clean briefs your editors and creators can execute without guesswork
Work alongside the founder to learn our creative strategy, testing, and iteration systems
Grow into reading performance and owning the call on when to iterate a winner versus test a fresh angle

Requirements

3–5+ years writing direct-response copy for DTC brands
Proven long-form VSL and/or advertorial scripts behind real spend (samples required)
Strong command of direct-response fundamentals: leads, hooks, mechanism, proof, objection handling, offer framing, and close
Deep understanding of Eugene Schwartz's Stages of Awareness and Market Sophistication, and how they map to script structure
Strong grasp of desire, belief-shifting, and objection handling
Able to work from qualitative research (VOC, reviews, Reddit, YouTube) to define angles and personas
Strong grasp of psychological triggers — curiosity, fear of loss, proof, novelty, identity — and how to deploy them
Exceptional written English and the ability to explain creative logic simply and persuasively
Hungry to grow into a full creative strategy role

Nice to have

Experience in health, wellness, or supplement brands
Familiarity with UGC, VSL, and advertorial funnel ecosystems
Experience briefing editors and creators from a finished script
Comfortable with awareness-stage funnel architecture (advertorials, listicles, quizzes)
