Job Description

Responsibilities

Develop 1–2 written stories per month highlighting conservation projects, outreach efforts, and staff.
Create and publish monthly social media content.
Contribute to internal and external communications, including newsletters, partner communications, and media outreach.
Assist in drafting a two-year communications plan for the Midwest Ecological Services program.
Conduct interviews and gather information from staff and field sites to support storytelling efforts.
Collaborate with biologists and communications professionals across multiple field offices.

Requirements

U.S. citizen or legal resident
college graduate
A personal vehicle is required for this position.
Educational background in communications, journalism, public affairs, environmental science, ecology, or a related field
Strong writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to communicate scientific information to broad audiences
Experience or interest in communications, outreach, media relations, or public engagement
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a professional setting

Preferred

Interest in GIS and field survey methods, depending on interest
